Starting My GSOC Journey 2016

The beginning of GSOC 2016 ,was a dream which was out of reach for me. But with commitment, passion and guidance from  my university lecturer Mr.Guhanathan Poravi he always motivated us about GSOC and past Gsocers in my university Roshan,Kasun and Ashan no word can express my gratefulness for all of you, I was able to finally make it a reality 😃. Finally 23rd of April I saw the mail “Your proposal has been accepted”, yes I was so excited and could be able to achieve my target.

From the beginning of the 2016 before announce the organization list I was working with GSOC. Asked question from main mailing thread and referred last year (2015) accepted organization and their project to get some idea. So the Organizations Announced on March 1, 2016 from that day onwards I was tried to find an organization with good community support. I tried various organizations and finally I heard that familiar word  Moodle” 👌.

Why did I choose Moodle ?

I have heard Moodle from the school days and it’s not something new for me. I think Moodle is a good platform to practice cohesive learning. Moodle is the world’s open source learning platform. Moodle learning platform designed to provide educators, administrators and learners with a single robust, secure and integrated system to create personalised learning environments. We can download Moodle and run it on own web server, can take some of their assistant support, or they provide MoodleCloud.  Moodle is widely used around the world by universities, schools, companies and all manner of organisations and individuals. It has great community support for devlopers like us. They are very helpful for users. Moodle is provided freely as open source software, under the GNU General Public License. Moodle is written in PHP and JavaScript and uses an SQL database for storing the data. Nowadays the whole world has shifted to mobile applications and Moodle has already moved on. It has been a great opportunity to join the developing process of the newest version of Moodle mobile app. They use very latest technologies and it helps me to improve my skills and good experience to work with such a large community. That was the main reasons behind selecting Moodle for GSOC 2016.
